Are you interested in homeschooling? You started not that long ago? Congratulations! You are embarking on a wonderful adventure. Throughout the conference I invite you to join me and my partner Frédéric to form a group that will meet at different times during the weekend. This will allow you to interact with and get to know other parents who, like you, have many questions and sometimes a few concerns. In addition to our group that will meet up to 3 times over the weekend, I invite you to join the Facebook event that I will create a few days before the conference begins. You can post your questions there, and it will be another way to connect more easily with participants. This platform will also give you the opportunity to register for one-on-one meetings with me during the conference. The meetings will last 15 to 20 minutes and will be used to answer more specific questions that were not answered during the presentations. And finally, I will put you in touch with a resource person from your area on Saturday evening, during the 5-7pm get-together. Sounds exciting, right? Full details on the times of the group meetings, networking activities, and launch of the Facebook page will be in the conference brochure. So, join us and come say hello when you arrive Saturday morning!
France is the mother of 5 children aged 21, 19, 17, 14 and 7. She and her husband Frédéric have been homeschooling for 16 years. Their family did homeschooling in Saguenay for 3 years before moving to British Columbia for 6 years followed by another 6 years in Alberta. She has been back in Quebec, in Montreal, for a year. Frédéric has a job that requires moving around and learning as a family was a wonderful way to bring stability to these moves. The family tried and practiced a few educational philosophies before finally focusing on free learning. France’s children have completed most of their high school years at home and the 3 oldest have now successfully entered the school system for their post-secondary education. France has led several support groups and has facilitated many coffee meetings for parents over the years. For the past 9 years she has been leading a science group for home-schooled kids. She studied in medicine and is passionate about food, alternative medicine and backcountry hiking.
